Gone to the Rodeo
Hey y’all! Sorry, no new original video this weekend. I thought things would slow down a bit now that it’s summer, but they’ve actually gotten a bit more hectic. Some of you might recall that I’m taking graduate courses. Well now I’m taking two three courses this summer, and I’m working more than I thought I would because I got a promotion.
I plan on having a new original video for next weekend and I’m planing another live broadcast with an Independence day / 4th of July theme. I was thinking Thursday or Friday afternoon or possibly Saturday before noon. If you have any preference, leave a comment on this page as to which day you want. In the mean time, enjoy this cool paper craft video that my sis-in-law found.

Technical Difficulties
So I’ve been notified that the site isn’t displaying properly on IE8 (I hate Microsoft). In addition to this, one of the plugins that I use on the site seems to be broken so some of the navigation is a little wonky. I apologize for all this, and I’m looking into how to fix this… though free time will be in short supply this week. In the mean time, I recommend using Firefox or Safari to view the site. Thanks and enjoy (if you can)!

Father’s day tie
Here’s a slight spin on the traditional father’s day gift of a tie. Instead of a silk neck tie… why not a bow tie… made out of a dollar! … or whatever currency you happen to use: euros, pounds, pesos, rubles, won, yen, yuan… you get the picture. You just need some paper money… or simply paper cut into a rectangle. Anyhow, make one for dear old dad and see what he thinks.
more stars… again…
This is more of a paper craft rather than traditional origami, but it’s pretty slick none the less. It’s called a barn star… this one has 5 points, but you can make them with more. Generally they’re made out of tin, copper, aluminum or some other light metal and placed on barns or houses. I see them a lot when I’m driving on country roads.
tale of two birds
Here’s a simple origami bird that kinda looks like a raven. If that’s too drab for you, with some simple modification, it can be turned into a penguin. Enjoy!
your future holds…
As I mentioned last week, people always ask me for 3 folds when they find out I do origami: the paper crane, paper cup and this thing – a fortune teller (sometimes called a cootie catcher). We used to play with these a bunch when I was a kid and oddly enough, when I finally learned how to make them, we stopped playing with them. I guess I ruined it for everyone. Anyhow, here’s your video on how to make an origami fortune teller -
