8 Point Star (Moon & Sun)
This origami video shows how to make an eight point star from eight squares. This is sometimes called a “the sun and moon” origami fold or “star and moon” origami fold because it starts out as a circle and then you transform it into a star. This is one of my all time favorite folds. **this fold was designed by Robert Neale and published in the book “Origami: Plain and Simple”**
Materials:
- Eight squares all the same size
- In this video I use 10 x 10 cm card stock squares that I cut (I use my trusty Carl brand rotary paper cutter) from larger sheets
- The final product is about 15 cm across at it’s widest
- I like to use 2 different colors, but of course you can use 1 or up to 8 colors in any combination
Wow! I've offically fallen in love with this model ^.^ Do you mind if i make a video on it?

im having a bit of trouble putting all of the peices together…for some reason i keep making a square…what am i doing wrong?
Emilie, I'd like to help you out, but it's really hard to say without seeing what you've done. Forgive me if you've already done all these:
1. make sure you have 8 pieces;
2. make sure the pieces all point the same direction when you assemble them – for example open "tail" to the left and closed point to the right;
3. make sure that when you fold the two corners of the tail into the piece behind it, you don't cover the pointed end.
- hope that helps. It's the best I can do without seeing what you've done.
yeah, make a video and link to it here… or better yet, publish it to howcast.com – then let me know when it's up and I'll share it on the Origami Hub.
