Origami Books

fish from heaven

Sorry for being in and out this month – things have been super busy, plus I’ve been trying to get look at ways of reworking my camera / recording set up. Hopefully the lighting on this one looks better. I’m hoping to have some time in the coming weeks to do some big changes to the site and also shift my video focus a little bit. Till then, here’s a new one – the angel fish. Hope you like it.

Second attempt…

So I thought I’d be fancy and remake 2 of my very early videos – the tank and spaceship. Well unfortunately the lighting wasn’t so good so even though I like the directions and editing on this video, I think I’ll have to do it over another time… but until I get the time for that, enjoy this version. As for time… well things are especially busy at work right now and for the next 3 or 4 weeks, but I’ll try to keep with my filming schedule as best as I can. Thanks for understanding!

from helmet to gold fish

Here’s a video that shows how to make a gold fish. It’s almost exactly like the samurai helmet / Kabuto. Now before someone gives me grief about using scissors to make this – Japanese people (from Japan) taught me how to make this, and told me to use scissors…

Star Boxen

Hope everyone had a great Mother’s day and you were able to spend time with yo mamma whether in person or on the phone.  This weekend’s video is how to make a “star box.”  It’s good for decoration or holding small things like candies or paper clips.  They’re pretty quick and simple to make.

Happy Mother's Day!

No new video this weekend – I’ll be spending today (my usual video making day) with family.  If you still don’t have a plan to show momma how special she is, take a look at the suggestions I made in other posts.

Count down to Mother's Day – 3 days left

Here’s another flower that you could make for yo momma. It’s a simple lotus flower from one sheet of paper. If you’re feeling really crafty, you can use a hot glue gun to easily turn these into a broach or a hair piece.

The large pink and purple lotus flowers are shown in the video

Count down to Mother's Day – 4 days left

What would Mother’s day be without flowers for your mom?  Below is a video that shows you how to make an origami lily / iris.  Tomorrow I’ll share another flower, or you can learn more flowers now.

Count down to Mother's Day – 5 days left

Does your mom like jewelry, but you can’t afford to buy her a new necklace or earrings? Well, make her a box to keep them in. You can make these rectangle boxes with lids by using two square sheets of paper.

In these pictures I used 12×12″ scrap book paper and the boxes came out to be 3x3x6 inches. As you can see I added some extra decoration to the boxes, but if you use some interesting paper, the box is nice enough even without decoration. Learn how to make the box here.

Countdown to Mother's day – 6 days left

Hopefully everyone realizes that Mother’s day is right around the corner. In honor of this, I’ll be highlighting some of the folds I’ve already posted that could make fun (and cheap – but not cheap looking) Mother’s day presents.

Let’s start with the card – well, no, I won’t show you how to make a card (just cut a piece of paper to the size you want and fold it in half), but here’s a video that shows you how to make a fancy origami envelope for the card.

If you used 8.5×11” paper for the envelope, your card will need to be about 3×5” ~ give or take a bit. You could also put a gift card in this envelope as well.
