“Origami” originally comes from two Japanese words “oru” (folding) and “kami” (paper). While many cultures have a history of paper folding, since the 60’s “origami” has taken root in popular culture across the world as the chosen term when talking about paper crafts. Origami has many different meanings to traditionalists, artists, hobbyists and more recently mathematicians; however, fundamentally all these groups that deal with origami realize one thing: it’s fun to create!
I discovered paper folding at a fairly young age, 4 or 5 years old, and was always amazed by process of transformation. However, learning origami was a slow journey for me because I didn’t always have access to the information and tools I needed in order to grow… I could never find enough books about origami. When I found the books, it was sometimes hard to read and understand the diagrams. When I could understand how to make the folds, I didn’t have the right origami paper… Well I’m glad to say I never gave up on my interest and love for origami. This website is a response to all the hoops I had to climb through just to learn something fun. I hope this site helps make your own journey with origami that much more enjoyable.
your stuff are so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
heyy its your fav person awesome stuff.
i love origami it is amazing how many things you can do with paper
Love what you are doing here. I'm teaching my 10 year old son some basic folds. He went crazy at the library and brought every book home they had (6 or 7). Thanks for sharing your love of this art form with the rest of us. CONGRATS ON YOUR WEDDING!
I love going to your website because I can make a lot of things out of paper like: animals, vehicles&stars!
Hey Josey. I have been showing my elementary art classes your videos. They love them. Thanks for such a great Origami resource! We have a blast in class… just folding away! My new favorite thing today was the lucky stars. I made some, put them in my pocket and gave them out as rewards and to anyone who looked like they needed a smile!
Wow, thanks for sharing that. You just made me smile!
Lol i love this site, so easy to use. I recently got into origami (midsummer) and i love it. Just turning a flat piece of boring paper into a crane or (as we learned recently) half of a mantis is just amazing =D. Ive been constantly wowing my mom because of what i can make, ill be getting some origami paper soon so you should expect some pics of my creations soon =D. One of my relatives even said that if i make some flower pots with flowers and stuff, make em all fancy xD that she can sell em in her shop. I could fund the paper i use and maybe even make a few bucks on the side. I dont care if i dont make money tho, i just love folding things lol.
Just found your site today. My son said he wanted to do something "lightly active" but not outside. I offered chess, Monopoly, cookies, it seemed there was nothing we would do. Then out of the blue, he said, "Dad come here and get a piece of paper". He had decided he wanted to show me how he learned to make an origami bird . . . several folds in he said he could not remember every step. So we searched the intenet watched a few videos and succeeded. Unfortunately for him, he went to his mother and said he could not get me to stop. So a few links and videos later I found you! Can't wait to show him the X-wing fighter after I have practiced my techniques a little more. Thanks.
wow… very cool! Thanks for the great feedback… stories like yours is exactly why I made the site.
Hey Josey. I LOVE your vids!!! I mean who doesn't. I watched every video you made.
)
Anyway can you make more origami videos that you can use 8.5/11 piece of paper or an A4 page.
That would be great.
Or if you can giv me free origami paper.
Hahaha
John, I only know a few folds that use "regular" paper, but I'll try to learn more and make videos for them. In the mean time, you can check out this list of the stuff I've done so far.
I've known your website for about 20 weeks and I can't get enough of it!My very first origami figure was the cherry blossom, then I saw the little message on the bottom of the video that read:see more at foldsomething.com .So I went to foldsomething.com and that's how it all started!I get happy when I learn new things, and it's all because of you!!:)
wow, very cool! That's exactly what I was hoping for when I started this site over a year ago. Thanks for being a return viewer and sticking with the site!
Glad you're enjoying the site
Thanks for the compliments. It's exciting for me to hear feedback from visitors. I love that your son is out there trying to absorb everything he can! Maybe, I'll be doing a video of one of his folds someday.
