Star Box

This origami video shows you how to make a “star box.” It’s a simple box with no lid, and is good for small things like paper clips, candies or gemstones like rubies, emeralds and even diamonds (just checking to see if you’re paying attention).

Materials:

– 1 square sheet of paper

Dimensions:

– In this video I use 150 x 150 mm origami paper (~ 6” x 6”). The final box has a base of 60 x 60 mm and a mouth of 40 x 40 mm
– dimensions will be roughly: base = .4 N; mouth = .27 N where “N” is the the original edge length of your square paper

  1. What I think is weird is that when my sister taught me how to make this (before I knew about foldsomething) she didn't teach me to curl the points. I find that kind of weird…

    • Curling the points is just something that I like to do… I didn't "invent" it, but i's not part of the traditional fold and you probably won't see it in most diagrams for the star box.

  2. I think that maybe you should go just a tad slower Josey….Sometimes when this is your first time doing the design you go kind of slow, and keep having to pause and pause.

  3. Something else I think you should work on is possibly not covering the piece as much with your hands. I don't normally have trouble with that in other videos of yours, but a few of 'em do have that problem.

  4. I think that you should make a video to how to make a origami magic rose cube. I found some instructions on the internet and its awesome!
